Queensland Museum South Bank will celebrate National Science Week with a range of free, science-based learning experiences from 18-26 August, 2007.

Activities include the Earth, Water, Wind and Fire Show, Science Works!, Liquid Nitrogen Shows, Hands-on Science, SCINEMA and Balloon Science Shows.

"From exploring the properties of liquid nitrogen to watching short films from science film festivals, visitors are assured of an engaging and entertaining Science Week experience," said Queensland Museum South Bank Director, Sally-Anne Lewis.

"National Science Week, now in it's 10th year, is the perfect time to fire up enthusiasm for a career in science and one of the best ways to demonstrate this is to let young visitors interact with Queensland Museum scientists and put them under the microscope.

"In Science Works! our scientists will take their fascinating research out of the lab and into the Museum's public spaces. There's nothing like learning first-hand what goes on behind the scenes."

The Earth, Water, Wind and Fire Science Show will investigate the three states of matter through a colourful and explosive live presentation in the Museum's Theatre.

Students from Milton State School will share their own science experiments during their Hands-on Science activities.
