Gas Prices Continue Downward March

Texas gas prices continued to spiral downward in the past week, with the average statewide price dropping by more than a nickel to $2.683, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch.

"Despite a two-week spike in July, state prices are at their lowest levels of the summer so far, although they are more than 60 cents higher than they were in February of this year."

Amarillo has the state's highest average price at $2.826, while Corpus Christi has the lowest price statewide at $2.536. Amarillo and Corpus Christi continue to register the highest and lowest average gas prices across the state.

AAA Texas Fuel Savings Tip of the Week

"Planning your trips and keeping maps in the car can prevent you from getting lost and putting extra mileage on your vehicle," says AAA Texas spokesperson Paul Flaningan. "Online maps are great tools to help you plan trips and minimize the number of miles you drive, but make sure you keep at least one paper map in the car to guide you when the unexpected happens." -AAA Texas
