He started his political career in 1981 and won the Loksabha elections by a huge margin from Amethi to become a member of parliament.
He later went on become the Prime Minister of India in 1984 when the nation was recovering from the death of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi .
He always dreamt of a strong and developed India and that's why he encouraged Information Technology and also gave a new thrust to the rural India by strengthening Panchayati Raj.
He extended the universal adult suffrage by reducing the voting age from 21 to 18 years.
