The library's director was presented with the award at a ceremony in South Africa last night.
Jo McGill says the prize is recognition of efforts to provide free internet access in remote Indigenous communities.
She says she has pages and pages of ideas about how to spend the money.
"There's three strategies that we're going to concentrate on, and the first one is preserving cultural heritage," she said.
"The second one is capacity building and the third one's early literacy programs." - © 2007 ABC Australia
