Armed with all-new material, the reigning king of one-man shows on the Broadway stage—the irascible, irreplaceable and incomparable Jackie Mason—is about to bring his 8th one-man comedy tour de force, Jackie Mason - The Ultimate Jew to the Paramount Theatre on Saturday, October 6 at 8 p.m. Following the performance Jackie Mason will hold a book signing for all in attendance.
Jackie will skewer public figures and interpret current events with his unique brand of side-splitting hilarity. If it's in the news, it's in the show! “I am excited about getting back to what I do best and what my audience likes best,” said Mason, “I am writing new jokes everyday and soon I’ll be telling them every night. Just me … one Jew talking and that’s it.”
Mason, widely regarded as one of the greatest stand-up comics of all time, is thrilled to return to Chicago this October in the format that made him a megastar, the one-man show, a format in which he’s had seven commercial and critical successes for which he has received a Tony®, a Grammy, an Emmy and awards from the Drama Desk and the Outer Critics Circle.
This event is part of the Midwest Literary Festival scheduled at the Paramount and Copley Theatres October 6-7 as Jackie Mason’s brand new book Schmucks! hits bookstands nationwide this month. Comedy legend Mason, and his partner in crime, former federal prosecutor and celebrity attorney Raoul Felder, go after America's lowlifes, scumbags, and everyone else who really gets on their nerves. This book spares no one. Politicians, sports stars, celebrities, corporations, publishers, crossing guards—they're all fair game. If you are a schmuck, or just someone who Jackie and Raoul find annoying, there is a fair chance you are on the list.
The 2007-2008 Paramount Theatre season is sponsored by the Paramount Arts Centre Endowment, American Airlines and The Beacon News/Sun Publications. This season is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency. -- www.paramountarts.com
