Joanne Gläsel To Perform At Jewish Museum

The actress Joanne Gläsel, known for her role as Superintendent Eva Klaussner in the German television series "Der Ermittler" (nominated for the Bambi Award in 2002), and the director Soogi Kang were inspired by Charlotte Salomon's life and her colorful, expressive gouaches to produce a theatrical performance which will have its première at the Jewish Museum Berlin on Saturday 1 September.

Playing, singing, and talking, Joanne Gläsel slips into every role and brings the artist's pictorial narrative and creative process to life. The solo performance - a collage of picture, text, color, music, and film - is based on Charlotte Salomon's picture cycle "Life? or Theatre?", on show at the Museum through August to 25 November. Excerpts from the performance will be shown at the Long Museum Night.

Joanne Gläsel will perform on 1 September at 7.30 pm and 24 November at 7.30 pm at Old Building , 2nd level, Concert hall. Admission is 10 euros, reduced rate 7 euros incl. admission to the special exhibition. -- www.juedisches-museum-berlin.de
