To celebrate the speedy advances in eco-friendly cars, the Science Museum is showcasing two high performance green-machines that can reach speeds of up to 150mph. The event will take place in the Antenna Gallery from Tuesday 28 –Thursday 30 August.
Developed by researchers at Imperial College for the Formula Zero competition, the hydrogen powered car runs off hi-tech hydrogen fuel cells. A full-size version could accelerate faster than a Porsche. Visitors will also be able to see Warwick University’s 95% biodegradable and recyclable racing vehicle with a shell sourced from hemp, tyres from potatoes and cashew nut shell brake pads.
Throughout the event, experts will be on hand to explain how the latest technology is making eco-friendly cars a reality and discuss the potential for putting these renewable technologies in tomorrow’s cars.
