Chery Auto sales manager Ma Deyi, said the company has set a goal to sell 1 million vehicles annually by 2012, of which 300,000 units will be commercial vehicles.
In the commercial vehicle sector, Chery has started to build a joint venture plant with China's largest special vehicle producer - CIMC Vehicle Investment Holding based in Chery’s hometown of Wuhu.
The plant will start operation in 2010, with Chery and CIMC each holding 30% and 70% stakes respectively in the venture.
Ma said Chery will build a separate sales network for commercial vehicles when volume sales started.
On the part of sedans the auto company has announced it will launch a mini car model codenamed Q21 by the end of this year, with others to follow up soon afterward. Chery hints that the new mini car will be a competitively priced model.
