From January to October, Mazda sold 105,000 cars in China, up 27% year on year and 11% higher than the industry average in the same period, Noriaki Yamada, President and chief operating officer of Mazda Motor (China) Co., Ltd., said to Nanfang Daily reporters during the Guangzhou Auto Show last week.
Noriaki Yamada announced that Mazda products have covered A0, A-class, and B-class car markets in China and the carmaker has planned to build MPV in the coming years.
Mazda has also restructured its sales network this year, with the number of 4S stores under its two Chinese joint ventures amount to 200 from 163.
Satoshi Tachikake, Executive President and CEO of Mazda Motor (China) Co. said as the global markets are still sluggish and continue to deteriorate, Mazda will face a tough challenge for the whole year, but it will try to overcome difficulties by improving the efficiency, cost and brand value.
In the first half of 2008, Mazda global sales increased by 6% year on year to 701,000 units and the operating profit was also past the forecast. It is expected that Mazda will see global sales up by 3% to 1,405,000 units for the whole year.
