New Orleans Ballet Association Presents Tango Fire

New Orleans Ballet Association to present Estampas Porteñas: tango fire on Friday, Feb. 8 and Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, at Dixon Hall, Tulane University.

For the first time on a New Orleans Ballet Association stage, we welcome the tempestuous seduction of the Tango! Direct from Buenos Aires, Estampas Porteñas brings Argentina’s sexy and stylish dance of love to life in Tango Fire.

Renowned Argentine ballerina Carolina Soler founded the company in 1996 to trace the evolution of the tango from the 19th century’s red-light districts of Buenos Aires to the ballroom dance craze of today.

The 10 dancers sizzle – the men in sharply tailored suits, the women in skirts slit up to here and down to there. A live five-piece band joins the company onstage resulting in a glamorous, theatrical evening of dance. -- www.nobadance.com
