A capacity audience and a thunderous standing ovation kicked off preview performances of Andrew Lloyd Webber's masterpiece Phantom - The Las Vegas Spectacular at The Venetian Resort Casino.

Phantom - The Las Vegas Spectacular at The Venetian reunites Lloyd Webber, director Harold Prince, choreographer Gillian Lynne and others from the show's original creative team, who together reconceived their show into a 95-minute wonder, leaving each and every song from the original production intact.

The show's Broadway-caliber cast, hand selected by Lloyd Webber, Prince and the entire creative team, features veteran performers Brent Barrett and Anthony Crivello sharing the title role.

By incorporating special effects and enhancement made possible by modern technology into the show's timeless music and story, new audiences and loyal fans alike will be awed by an all-new Phantom. From the amazing sets, spectacular illusions, sophisticated pyrotechnics and a breathtaking chandelier experience unlike anything ever seen, Phantom - The Las Vegas Spectacular promises surprises that are only to be found in this all-new production.

In anticipation of opening Phantom for the first time ever in Las Vegas, The Venetian employed David Rockwell to create a state-of-the-art theatre designed to harmonize with the show's original set design and serve to transport theatergoers to the famed Paris Opera House.

The most successful theatrical endeavor of all time, The Phantom of the Opera has grossed more than $3 billion worldwide since its London premiere in 1986, having played more than 65,000 performances in 20 countries and 110 cities. After the opening, the musical went on to sweep the 1988 Tony Awards, winning seven Tonys, including Best Musical as well as seven Drama Desk Awards and three Outer Critics Circle Awards. In January 2006, it became the longest-running show in Broadway history, surpassing another of Webber's greatest hits, Cats.

The Phantom of the Opera features music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Charles Hart, additional lyrics by Richard Stilgoe, book by Richard Stilgoe and Andrew Lloyd Webber and orchestrations by David Cullen and Andrew Lloyd Webber. It was originally produced by Cameron Mackintosh and The Really Useful Theatre Company, Inc.
