Ruth Ann Swenson, Thomas Hampson and Angela Gheorghiu are just a sample of the world class singers this season's Seven Starry Nights opera tour will feature. Departing on March 7 and returning on March 14, the seven-day tour will include orchestra seats at the Metropolitan Opera for performances of Simon Boccanegra featuring Angela Gheorghiu and Thomas Hampson, Zeffirelli's unforgettable production of La traviata, and Faust with Ruth Ann Swenson as Marguerite.
At the New York City Opera, you will enjoy a performance of Gilbert and Sullivan's delightful Pirates of Penzance. Other highlights of the tour include a Broadway play (tba), a morning tour of Manhattan Island by boat and docent-led tours of The Cloisters.
OSJ's Larry Hancock will offer a discussion on each of the four operas before departing on the trip in addition to the preview talks that are offered in New York, allowing the most flexibility for those on the tour to become acquainted with the operas. Mr. Hancock will accompany the tour to New York and will be available to answer questions you may have before and after performances.
The price of this one-week trip is $3,499, based on double occupancy. This includes airfare, hotel, meals, ground transportation to and from all planned outings, tickets to all planned events, the opera lectures, and all taxes and gratuities except those to driver and escort.
