Best Buy has the Nikon D600 Digital 24.3MP SLR Camera (body only) on sale for a low $1659.99 (and not, it's not after rebate; it is priced this way).

As you might expect, Best Buy charges sales tax in most states. The deal includes Free Shipping. Tax in most. This camera body normally retails for $2,099.99.

In terms of comparative pricing,. this same item can be found at Amazon.com for $1,654.00, including free shipping. It's unclear how many states the seller charges sales tax in, as it is a third party, not Amazon.com. This item is also not being "fulfilled by Amazon.com," either. There does not appear to be any sales tax charged for those living in California.

The seller is Sunset Electronics, which has a 93 percent positive rating as a third-party Amazon.com reseller over the past 12 months, with a 96 percent rating over the lifetime of its association with Amazon.com. The seller has 4,556 ratings over the one-year period, but only 87 percent positive over the last 30 days and 90 percent positive over the past 90 days.

To be clear, this model, the Nikon D600, has been superceded by a newer model, the D610. That model is currently selling at Amazon.com for $1,996.95 with a list price of $1,999.95 (again, for the body only). Amazon.com says it has the item in -stock. Meanwhile, Best Buy only has pre-orders available.

For those unaware, Nikon explains the difference between FX- and DX-formats on their website. Wikipedia also explains:

A full-frame digital SLR is a digital single-lens reflex camera (DSLR) fitted with an image sensor that is the same size as a 35 mm (36×24 mm) film frame. This is in contrast to cameras with smaller sensors, typically of a size equivalent to APS-C-size film, much smaller than a full 35 mm frame. Currently, the majority of digital cameras, both compact and SLR models, use a smaller-than-35 mm frame, as it is easier and cheaper to manufacture imaging sensors at a smaller size. Historically, the earliest digital SLR models, such as the Nikon NASA F4 or Kodak DCS 100, also used a smaller sensor.

Both the 610 and 600 can communicate with mobile devices with the optional WU-1b wireless mobile adapter. There is also a Nikon Wireless Mobile Adapter Utility app, which allows users to remotely control the cameras from a smartphone or tablet.

For those willing to go refurbished, Best Buy has the same body on sale for $1,499.99 in refurbished mode.

It is unclear how long this deal will be in effect.
