They are here. I wrote earlier about Microsoft's new ad campaign, scheduled to start on Sept. 4th and to feature Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates. The first ad aired during the opening game of the NFL season between Washington and the New York Giants. It's titled "The future, delicious," but I have to say "yuck."

As described in the YouTube post by WindowsVideos (go figure),

Jerry Seinfeld happens upon Bill Gates in a mall and trades shoe knowledge for insights into the future of technology.

The highlight: Jerry eating a churro. I love churros. Most of the ad (1:30) focused on Seinfeld helping Gates buy shoes. While I admit it reminded me of the show Seinfeld, it certainly doesn't compare with the clever Apple ads that make me stop my DVR in mid-skip.

Finally, toward the end, the first reference to computers:

Seinfeld: "Just wondering, are they ever going to come out with something that will make our computers moist and chewy like cakes so we can just eat them while we are working? If it's yes, just give me a signal. Adjust your shorts."

To which Gates sorta wiggles his rear (?).

Seinfeld: "Knew it."

Then the title shows up "The future, delicious," and a Windows logo.

Once again, yuck. If they want this reportedly $300 million dollar campaign to succeed, they need to:

  1. Loosen up Gates. He's not an actor and it shows.
  2. Improve the chemistry between the two.
  3. Make the dang things funny.
