Joe Biden's Mother-in-Law Dies

Biden has not appeared in public since Friday, when he spoke briefly at the deployment ceremony for his son, Beau, a member of the Delaware National Guard. Beau Biden is preparing for a yearlong tour in Iraq.

Biden's mother-in-law took a turn for the worse over the weekened. She had been in hospice care in the Philadelphia suburbs, not far from the Bidens’ home in Wilmington, Delaware.

Biden spokesman David Wade said:

"Other details will follow, but we appreciate everyone's respect for the family's privacy during this difficult time."

Biden has cancelled his campaign events for Monday and Tuesday; a memorial service will be held Tuesday in Abington, Pennsylvania.
