This is just a test 3D broadcast, but if successful, could open up a whole new revenue stream for the NFL.
“We want to demonstrate this and let people get excited about it and see what the future holds,” NFL senior VP of broadcasting and media operations Howard Katz told the Wall Street Journal.
And how can you see it? You can't.
There are only three theatres, one in each city, showing the 3D NFL broadcast, and they are closed to the general public. Sorry! It's a test, after all, and while the NFL might see this as a stepping stone for the future, this is more something to show off to partners; representatives from the NFL's broadcasting partners and from consumer-electronics companies will be in attendance.
Besides, it's the Oakland Raiders (3-9) against San Diego (4-8). Do you really want to watch that game in 3D?
