What fun! As Bush's presidency winds down, it appears some have decided they'd better let him know just what they think of him before they lose their chance. In this case, with a pair of shoes.
Yes, that's plural. Bush had to dodge not one, but two shoes thrown at him, showing good agility, I might add.
At a news conference in Iraq today in which Bush emphasized progress in Iraq and that "there is still more work to be done," Bush managed to duck not questions, but two size-10 missiles.
Bush was not injured, but apparently White House Press Secretary Dana Perino received a black eye in the rush to grab the reporter.
"This is a farewell kiss, you dog!" shouted the man, later identified as Muntadar al-Zeidi, a correspondent for Al-Baghdadia television, an Iraqi-owned station based in Cairo, Egypt.
The importance of the shoe? Apparently the sole of the shoe is considered an insult in Arab cultures.
"All I can report," Bush joked of the incident, "is a size 10."
