When Chelsea Banton was born prematurely, and was expected to live only 36 hours. The problem: excessive fluid on her brain. But she defied those odds.
Since then, she's been in and out of the hospital. This fall, she developed pneumonia and was placed on a ventilator.
As Colleen Banton told the "Today Show,"
“We'd been praying for a miracle, and I think this is the beginning of it."
Eventually, it was decided that Chelsea was suffering, and the family took her off life support. Then, as they preparted to take her off support, a nurse practitioner called Colleen's attention to a monitor showing the door to the pediatric ICU.
"And this image appeared, up on the security monitor, and it was an image of an angel, and I thought 'well, either that's the angel coming to take her to Heaven, or its an angel to say that she's getting better." Yes, at that moment, was Chelsea touched by an angel?
The phone attached to this story, taken by Colleen Blanton, shows that moment in time, when she believes Chelsea was touched by an angel.
Chelsea became better almost immediately, according to her mother. And hospital employees confirmed that they saw "something" as well.
A fifteenth birthday is right around the corner for Chelsea. While Colleen said that it's possible this is Chelsea's last Christmas, this one is special, because she and her family were touched by an angel.
