Peyton Manning, quarterback of the Indianapolis Colts, has won his third Associated Press NFL Most Valuable Player award.
By winning his third award, Peyton Manning ties New York Jets QB Brett Favre as the only three time winners of the award.
In balloting by a nationwide panel of 50 sports writers and broadcasters who cover the NFL, Peyton Manning received 38 points and 12 first-place votes, while the second-place finisher, RB Adrian Peterson of the Vikings, had 15.5 points and no first-place votes.
Manning shared the award with Tenn. QB Steve McNair in 2003, and won it in 2004.
Brett Favre, then with Green Bay, won the MVP honors in 1995 - 1997, sharing it with Detroit RB back Barry Sanders in 1997.
Manning told the AP:
"I know it's an individual award, but ... truly, in my opinion, a team award."
