Caroline Kennedy In? Depends Who You Ask

Reports are surfacing that Caroline Kennedy is the front-runner for Hillary Clinton's New York Senate. On the other hand, still other reports say no. Sigh.

According to the AP, two unnamed people say that New York Governor David Paterson is leaning toward Caroline Kennedy.

This follows closely the news that State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, who said he would support Caroline Kennedy as Clinton's replacement. He apparently had early reservations, but told the New York Post he's rethinking his views on Kennedy because "he feels Gov. David Paterson will soon pick her to replace Clinton."

However, people still feel Caroline Kennedy is a lightweight candidate, as she has no political experience.

Finally, at the same time, the NY Times reports Paterson says he's still looking.

If any readers watched Rachel Maddow's show recently, you may have seen a segment in which she outline the nepotism in Congress and the Senate: there are many on both sides of the aisle in both the Congress and Senate related to others in the Legislature.

The question is: if Caroline Kennedy gets the nod, is it another case of nepotism? She certainly seems light on qualifications.
