The new, yet unnamed model is 0.26" in thickness. The Bordeaux 850 line of TVs, Samsung's thinnest models to date, are 7x, yes, 7x the thickness of these.
According to reports, this makes the new model slimmer than many mobile handsets. The Bordeaux 850 was thin enough; this one might slide through the cracks in a hardwood floor.
Seriously however, Samsung plans to demo the new model this week at CES. How are they achieving the reduction in size? The new model implements an LED (light emitting diode) backlighting system, for one.
Pricing, availability of the new model has not yet been announced.
