Pfizer Campus Locked Down Over Shooting

New York-based drug firm Pfizer Inc. has locked down their Chesterfield campus, near St. Louis, after a lunchtime shooting.

Pfizer has 1,200 employees in the St. Louis area. The shooting was the result of a domestic dispute, authorities said.

A woman working as a contractor was shot in the foot shortly after noon and transported to St. John's Mercy Medical Center in Creve Coeur and was hospitalized in satisfactory condition.

Police were using canines and helicopters in their search for the suspect, but it appears they may allow employees to leave the Pfizer facility, as the shooting suspect has been missing for some time.

Pfizer's Chesterfield facility, located at 700 Chesterfield Parkway West, is 900,000 square feet and includes 250 laboratories.

The Parkway School District also locked down nearby schools, but were given the all clear around 2:15 PM local time. The Parkway School District's web site said the schools have resumed normal operations.
