The Powerball lottery runs across several states: Arizona, Connecticut, Colorado, the District of Columbia, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Vermont, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Wisconsin and West Virginia.
Yes, you read that right, it also runs in the U.S. Virgin Islands, a territory, rather than a state.
Interestingly, in these tough economic times, it appears many Americans are gambling, which is what this is, on a big win to get them out of economic trouble. A recent AP story focused on Tennesee (TN) and its lottery. Of course, while many states participate in multi-state lotteries, most also have their own lottery as well.
If you're thinking about entering the Powerball lottery, whether you're from Wisconsin, NC, TN or whereever, take a quick look at their site. Some changes have just been enacted to create more winners, but also to increase jackpot size.
