Don't Waste Your Time with the "Hero on the Hudson" Game

Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger is officially known as the "Hero on the Hudson;" the pilot who managed to successfully ditch a U.S. Airways A320, Flight 1549, in the Hudson River, with no fatalities. Now you too can be a hero, or at least play one, in the Hero on the Hudson game, available for free online.

It was launched earlier this week, and has already garnered 1,188,363 plays at the time of this writing. Thing is, it's not really worth playing (though what do you expect for free online?).

The Hero on the Hudson game only has two controls, the left and right arrows, which are used to keep the plane level. That's the key to a successful landing, being level when you hit the water. But the animation is so lame that as you come in to land it almost appears you are coming in like a helicopter (straight down, but slowly).

Interestingly, there don't seem to be any reviews of the game on the site. And unlike other games on the site which have a thumbs up or down rating widget (see above), this game does not.

It's particularly of note because Newsday said there were 3,117 votes received, 75% thumbs down. Did Addicting Games simply remove them, along with the rating widget?

Most of the comments below the game hit it on the head. It's boring, stupid and offensive.

I'm not sure I find it offensive. Definitely boring and lame, but I'm not sure it's offensive. One things for sure: Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger can be glad he's not associated with the game.
