Her estranged brother-in-law has been charged in the killings. Jennifer Hudson has yet to comment on the slayings.
Something that not many people know, is that featured performers at the Super Bowl submit pre-recorded tracks to the NFL prior to their performance. While they can perform live, it's generally recommended that they lip-sync, to avoid any possible glitches.
Pre-game show producer Rickey Minor told AP:
“That’s the right way to do it. There’s too many variables to go live. I would never recommend any artist go live because the slightest glitch would devastate the performance.”
In addition to Hudson's performance, the pre-game show included a performance (similarly lip-sync'ed) by Faith Hill singing America the Beautiful.
Typically, the 2009 Super Bowl kickoff was late, a few minutes past the 3:18 PM PST time officially scheduled.
Pre-recorded or not, Hudson's performance was stunning. She plans to also appear at this year's Grammy Awards on Feb. 8th.
