Or so they say.

Punxsutawney Phil is, of course, the groundhog of the moment, who people around the world look to a the forecast on the severity of winter.

Not to say he doesn't have rivals. Nope, there is Gen. Beauregard Lee in Georgia, Buckeye Chuck in Ohio, and Staten Island Chuck in New York.

The beginnings of Groundhog Day are debated, but some say that according to German superstition, if a hibernating animal casts a shadow on Feb. 2, the Christian holiday of Candlemas, winter will last six weeks longer. If no shadow is seen, spring will come early.

Today, according to his handler, Ben Hughes, Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow today, forecasting six more weeks of winter.

But, of his aforementioned rivals, the most notable, Staten Island Chuck disagreed with Punxsutawney Phil this year.

How often is Phil right? According to his website, the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club Inner Circle, 100% of the time.

In reality, who knows?
