Val Kilmer to Run for New Mexico Governor?

Val Kilmer, the former Batman and Top Gun actor, is apparently thinking about a run for New Mexico governor in 2010.

Val Kilmer is trying to emulate, it would seem, fellow actors Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jesse Ventura, and even Ronald Reagan.

In 2010, current New Mexico governor Bill Richardson will complete his second term and be ineligible for another term. Val Kilmer also said that some people have seriously appraoched him with regards to this.

Val Kilmer said the following in an interview:

"In general, as an actor I didn’t choose to be very vocal about stuff. And I'm not a politician. So I’m not going to try to become one. I have no interest in being governor of New Mexico for ... fame and power."

But he added:

"If I run, I’m going to be the next governor."

Val Kilmer, 49, is a Democrat, by the way, and he voted for Barack Obama.
