The hope was that the Daytona 500 could be completed prior to the incoming rainstorm, but they didn't quite make it. Still, they have a winner, and it's Matt Kenseth, who won a race-shortened race that was called with 48 laps to go.
Matt Kenseth took over the lead just 2 laps before the race was red-flagged, and drivers waited to see if the race would be restarted. But NASCAR declared the race over, earning Kenseth his first victory in the Daytona 500, NASCAR's crown jewel.
It was also the first Daytona 500 win for team owner Jack Roush.
The win also broke a 36-race losing streak for Kenseth, who started the race in last place because he wrecked his primary car, and had to switch to his backup.
Earlier, with 75 laps to go, Dale Earnhardt Jr. triggered a nine-car accident that knocked rival Kyle Busch, who had led a race-high 88 laps, out of the race.
Here's the full list of Daytona 500 "winners," which of course will have to be made official, but it's the leaderboard at the time the race was called.
