5 Injured in Minor League Hockey Team Bus Crash

With all the travel, one has to wonder why incidents like this don't happen more often. Five people were injured when the Albany River Rats minor-league hockey team bus rolled over last night.

The injured have been identified as Albany River Rats players Nicholas Blanchard, Casey Borer, Joe Jensen, Jonathan Paiement and radio broadcaster John Hennessy.

While the accident is still under investigation, Massachusetts State Police said there were icy road conditions last night; the Albany River Rats were returning from a game in Lowell against the Lowell Devils.

Albany River Rats Coach Jeff Daniels said,

"Some guys are banged up. Hockey is secondary right now. The main thing is to make sure they're healthy. Some might need some time to heal up, but in the big picture they will be healthy and that's our main goal and main focus right now."

Its unclear if the players and announcer were seriously hurt or not; Daniels also added that the Albany River Rats will likely miss their next scheduled game.
