Robin Williams announced on his website Thursday that the well-known comic and actor needs heart surgery and must cancel the remainder of his one-man comedy show, "Weapons of Self-Destruction.".

Robin Williams, 57, is suffering from the same ailment that hospitalized Barbara Bush earlier this week: he needs an aortic valve replacement.

In a statement on the site, Robin Williams said:

“I’m so touched by everyone’s support and well wishes. This tour has been amazing fun and I can’t wait to get back out on the road after a little tune-up.”

Williams has been on the sold-out 80-city “Weapons of Self-Destruction” comedy tour since September 2008.

Robin Williams was a stand-up comedian first, but got his big break with a "Happy Days" guest spot that eventually led to a starring role on the sitcom "Mork & Mindy," playing the same character, Mork from Ork.

Robin Williams has appeared in many feature films and won an Academy Award as Best Supporting Actor in the 1997 film "Good Will Hunting."
