Amanda Knox's Trial Continues with Testimony Over Horrific Scream

I first heard of Amanda Knox, 21, AKA "Foxy Knoxy," on either Dateline or 48 Hours Mystery, I can't remember which. But I do remember that it had to do with the murder of British exchange student Meredith Kercher, which took place on Nov. 1, 2007.

Meredith Kercher's semi-nude body was found at the crime scene under a duvet on the floor of her bedroom on November 2, 2007. She had been stabbed in the throat.

Amanda Knox ("Foxy Knoxy") and former boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito, 24, are charged with murdering and sexually assaulting Meredith Kercher. Police sought charges in July of last year, and the trial began January 16 and has been held mostly on weekends.

Prosecutor Giuliano Mignini alleges that Kercher, 21, was killed because she refused to participate in a drug-fueled sex game played by Knox, Sollecito, and a third man, Ivory Coast native Rudy Hermann Guede, who was convicted in a fast-track trial that ended with a conviction and 30 years in prison.

Amanda Knox earned her nickname and reputation as a wild girl based on web searches and her MySpace page. Her parents later explained the high school nickname came from the way Knox played soccer, quick like a fox.

Today more testimony in the trial (it's already the weekend there, right?) Nara Capezzali, a 68-year-old widow, who lives in a flat overlooking the hillside cottage which housed Meredith Kercher's crime scene, said she heard a scream on the night of the murder.

"It was a woman's scream. This was no call for help. It was just a scream, then nothing."

She told the judge and six jurors the scream "had made her flesh creep."

The trial is extremely complex, with arguments over the validity of DNA evidence, contamination, and is likely to take quite a bit more time to complete, although if you ask Italian media, they have already convicted Knox.

Earlier testimony by a grocer really hurt Knox's alibi, when Marco Quintavalle said he was sure Knox came to his shop at 7:45 AM on November 2nd and went to the cleaning products section. Knox had said she hadn't woken until 10AM that day.
