Michigan State Beats UConn to Make the NCAA Final

Michigan State (31-6) bested the University of Connecticut (31-5) in the first of two Final Four games on Saturday, 82-73, meaning the Spartans have reached the NCAA finals for the first time since 2000.

For the Spartans, Raymar Morgan threw in 18 points, and Kalin Lucas added 21.

Hasheem Thabeet, the 7-foot-3 center, led UConn with 17 points. Stanley Robinson and A.J. Price had 15 each for Connecticut, and Robinson added 13 rebounds.

The No. 2-seeded Spartans will be going for their third NCAA title in school history and second under 14-year coach Tom Izzo.

The UConn Huskies were the best team in the country until Jerome Dyson suffered a knee injury in mid-February. But now the Spartans will play the winner of Villanova - North Carolina for the NCAA title Monday night.
