Chad Campbell finished with a 7 under par 65 on Thursday, taking a narrow lead over Jim Furyk, who finished 6 under par, while Tiger Woods is currently 5 back with a 2 under par round in the 2009 Masters golf tournament.

Chad Campbell began his round with five straight birdies, the best start in Masters history. Although he had a chance for the best round ever, he couldn't sustain it, bogeying 17 and 18 to finish with 65 in the 2009 Masters golf tournament.

It was a day when weather conditions could lead to low scores, and that's what happened.

Padraig Harrington, who began his quest to win a third straight major with a 69, said:

"It was a day for scoring. (Club officials) can get the scoring whichever way they want. Today was obviously one of the most generous days ever around Augusta. You've got to feel it's going to get a little bit tougher as we go on the next three days."

That said, some were not so lucky. Phil Mickelson struggled and could only manage 73. Sergio Garcia also shot 73, while Ernie Els had a 75, putting him 10 strokes off the lead after 1 day.
