Joe Dowdle, 26, a real estate salesman from Austin, TX, was examined by "Survivor's" medical staff and told the infected bump on his leg was too close to the bone for it to be safe for him to continue in the game. So, he was airlifted off the island and to a modern hospital with plenty of antibiotics.
Dowdle said (on camera):
"This game is cool. But it's not that cool. I don't want to die. I'd rather walk home."
Because of that anticlimatic move, the only other major development of the week was that the Timbira and Jalapao tribes were merged into a common tribe, called Forza.
