Don't mix her up with Miss America! Miss USA, crowned Sunday night, gets to move on to the Miss Universe pageant. That said, of course, many get them confused, and many consider Miss America to be a more presigious crown.
Miss America confusion aside, the event was held at the Theatre for the Performing Arts in Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Miss North Carolina Kristen Dalton was crowned Miss USA 2009.
Kristen Dalton, Miss USA 2009, will now represent the United States in the Miss Universe pageant in the Bahamas this coming August. Miss California USA Carrie Prejean, of San Diego, was named first runner-up.
Apparently, beauty pagent winners run in the family. Kristen Dalton's mother was Miss North Carolina USA in 1982 and her sister was Miss North Carolina Teen USA in 2008.
According to the pageant's press release, Kristen Dalton is a talented singer and dancer who completed her degree in Psychology and Spanish at East Carolina University.

I guess you're not allowed to be Miss USA if you're a Christian. I hope Miss California sues since she only lost due to Hilton's anti-Christian bigotry.
