Melissa Huckaby, 28, has already been charged with murder as well as special circumstances allegations, rape with a foreign object, lewd or lascivious conduct with a child under 14 in the Sandra Cantu case. She has now been tied to a different case, a girl who was missing for 4 hours in January.
The girl was reported missing on January 17th by a family in the Orchard Estates Mobile Home Park, which is where both Melissa Huckaby and 8-year old Sandra Cantu lived as well.
The January report alleges that the seven-year-old was taken to a park by an unidentified woman. The two were gone for four hours, and according to allegations, the girl came back high on muscle relaxers. The woman who took the girl drove a purple Kia Sportage, according to the report.
Guess who has a purple Kia Sportage?
Once returned, the family took the girl to the hospital, where a doctor found benzodiazepine in the girl’s bloodstream.
While police interviewed Huckaby later, they had no probable cause to arrest her at the time, as Police Sgt. Tony Sheneman told Larry King on Monday.
In additional Melissa Huckaby trial news, Judge Terrence Van Oss recused himself from the case Monday. It is unclear why.
