Madden 2010 Cover to Curse Two Players at Once

Electronic Arts has selected two players to grace the cover of Madden 2010. Troy Polamalu of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Larry Fitzgerald of the Arizona Cardinals will both be featured on the cover of the Madden NFL 2010 video game.

2010 will therefore be the first time two players have been on the cover of a Madden game at once. For some reason, I keep thinking Polamalu and Fitzgerald have something in common. It couldn't be that Super Bowl earlier this year could it? Nah.

In reference to the Madden curse, it's a superstition, similar to the Sports Illustrated cover curse, which states that once an athlete appears on the cover of a Madden game, something bad will befall them. In 2010, we get the chance to see if two can be taken down at once.

Seriously, though, Snopes (the website that defines debunking stuff) outlines the Madden Curse in detail, and much as one might want to call the curse a superstition only, it's uncanny how many players have had a down year or injury after being featured on a Madden cover.

Of course, Snopes still said it's all superstition, but there are plenty of superstitious people out there, right? OK, Fitzgerald and Polamalu, you might want to start crossing your fingers as the release of Madden 2010 approaches.
