Seriously, guys, he's retired. For the second time, no less. But despite the fact that Brett Favre, once of the Green Bay Packers and late of the New York Jets says he's retired, the Minnesota Vikings say they want to take a look at the once superstar QB.
Brett Favre asked for and received his release from the New York Jets earlier this week. Despite that, he sort of left the possibility of returning an open subject, by using the term "at this time" in a statement.
When asked if the Vikings had discussed the possibility of pursuing Favre, Head Coach Brad Childress said no, but ...
“We haven’t. It doesn’t mean we won’t. We talk about everything, from what’s going on in the United States on the front page today. So, yeah, I’m sure we’ll talk about that.”
Brett Favre's 2008 stats, in fact, weren't that bad. He did fade at the end of the season as the Jets fell out of the playoffs. But he was 343 out of 522 attempts (65.7 completion percentage), for 3472 yards, with 22 TDs and 22 INTs (the worst part of the stats).
Favre had several games with an over 100 QB rating. On a decent team, with decent pass protection, he could have another good season. Will he stay retired? Only if his love of the game is gone.
