Kristin Price, 27, a former North Carolina State runner, won the women's division of the Pittsburgh Marathon in 2:36.33, or more than five minutes ahead of Phebe Ko, 26, of Baltimore.
Temperatures were in the low 50s, with cloudy skies as an estimated 10,500 runners participated (some in the half-marathon).
A minor emergency prior to the start of the Pittsburgh Marathon, which did not affect results: a car slammeed into Heinz History Center near the start on Sunday morning. Pittsburgh emergency officials told a local TV station that the car crashed into the building on Smallman Street in the Strip District at about 4 AM.
This year the Pittsburgh Marathon was renamed the Dick’s Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon; the race had been after UPMC dropped out as sponsor in 2004.
