Craiglist Suspect Sees R.I. Charges

Philip Markoff, the medical student jailed in Boston on suspicion of killing a masseuse he met on Craigslist, now has an additional charge to be concerned with; he was charged Monday in Rhode Island with pulling a gun on a stripper in a hotel.

He had previously been linked to the Rhode Island attack, but had not been charged.

The robbery attempt occurred April 16th at a Holiday Inn Express in Warwick. An exotic dancer from Las Vegas who offered lap dances on Craiglist told Rhode Island authorities that she was bound and held at gunpoint. She said her attacker fled when her husband came up to the hotel room.

As noted in our prior story, Markoff had been linked to the R.I. crime by a fingerprint left at the scene.

Markoff had already been charged with two Boston-area hotel crimes, one of which resulted in the death of Julissa Brisman, a masseuse, who advertised on Craigslist.

Markoff has pleaded not guilty to both prior charges.
