Police officials have launched a nationwide manhunt for 29-year-old Stephen Morgan, the suspect in a shooting that killed Wesleyan University student Johanna Justin-Jinich yesterday.
At the same time, from the circumstances, noting that Stephen Morgan walked into the bookstore while wearing a disguise, it is apparent that the act was not random.
Middletown Police Chief Lynn Baldoni said in a press conference:
"Evidence uncovered overnight suggests that Mr. Morgan may be focused on the Wesleyan University campus as well as the Jewish community. Investigators have been in contact with Wesleyan University and leaders of the Jewish community, urging both to be extra vigilant."
She would not elaborate and did not take questions. Morgan is pictured in a security camera image attached to this post, as is his victim, Justin-Jinich.
Johanna Justin-Jinich was shot Wednesday afternoon in the Broad Street Book Store on the Wesleyan University campus at about 1 PM Wednesday.
