A prosecutor in the trial of Amanda Knox or "Foxy Knoxy," was today in a court hearing concering abuse of power. Giuliano Mignini faces up to a 10-month jail sentence.
Despite this, Giuliano Mignini has been allowed to continue as lead prosecutor in the "Foxy Knoxy" case. He is also accused of obstruction of justice and illegally wiretapping journalists.
21-year-old Amanda Knox, nicknamed "Foxy Knoxy" because of some risque material on her social networking sites, is jointly accused with her former boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito, 25, of murdering and sexually assaulting her roommate Meredith Kercher.
Meredith, 21, was found semi naked and with her throat cut in her bedroom of the house she shared with "Foxy Knoxy;" the prosecution has said that she was killed after refusing to take part in a drug-fueled sex game.
Mignini's own trial has nothing to do with the "Foxy Knoxy" case. It revolves around the so-called Monster of Florence serial killings which left 14 people dead between 1974 and 1985.
Mignini is accused along with police chief Michele Giuttari of planting bugs devices in journalists' cars and also abusing his power to question reporters without charge.
"Foxy Knoxy" and Sollecito's trial continues on May 22.
