Painfully, both Ethan Zohn and Jenna Morasca have lost parents to cancer. Zohn's father died of colon cancer when Zohn was 14, while Morasca's mother died in 2003, after a 12-year battle with breast cancer.
Hodgkin's disease is a cancer of the body's lymphatic system with survival rates as high as 90%. Stage II is "involvement of two or more lymph node regions on the same side of the diaphragm or of one lymph node region and a contiguous extralymphatic site." However, Ethan Zohn has yet another complication in that he has a rare form the disease called CD20-positive Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
CD20 affects around 5% of all Hodgkin's patients. However, Ethan Zohn was told that it has a similar high cure rate, but is treated with a more aggressive chemo regimen, which is likely to make Zohn lose his signature locks.
But Ethan Zohn said he'll face baldness with aplomb.
"My hair is my identity," he admits. But rather than find "long, disgusting Ethan Zohn hair all over my house," he's decided to shave it off in the next few days: "I'll get a mohawk or something fun that I've always wanted to do."
