Swine flu has claimed its 10th victim in the U.S. On Wednesday Christina Huitron told doctors to take her 21-year-old son off life support. Marcos Sanchez of Utah thus became the nation's 10th fatality associated with swine flu.

Huitron told KSL-TV:

"I knew he was suffering. I don't know how he was feeling, but I just knew I had to do it because he was passing away slowly anyways, and I didn't want him to suffer anymore."

This is the latest U.S. death in the recently discovered swine flu, which is actually combination of avian, human, and swine flus, and which has spread globally since first appearing in Mexico.

Once again, however, doctors agree that the death of Sanchez is at least somewhat related to underlying medical conditions.

Dr. David Sundwall, executive director of the Utah Department of Health, said Sanchez was overweight and had chronic medical conditions, including respiratory problems. He said:

"This is not a person who was overall genuinely healthy."

Also adding to the death toll on Wednesday was a Tucson, AZ a 13-year-old boy from Tucson who was confirmed as dying last Friday from swine flu. He had been hospitalized May 10.
