Serena Williams, the second seed, advanced to the fourth round of the French Open after rallying to beat Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez of Spain 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. Her sister, Venus, was knocked out of the Grand Slam event yesterday.

Serena Williams suffered one service break in the first set, but she complained about the final point of the set. She believed the ball hit her opponent’s arm, which would have won the point for Williams. Martinez Sanchez said the ball hit her racket.

Serena Williams commented:

I didn't 'think' the ball touched her — the ball did touch her, 100 percent, on her arm. The rules of tennis is when the ball hits your body, then it's out of play. You lose a point automatically," Williams said. "So the ball hit her body, and therefore, she should have lost the point — instead of cheating."

That's a pretty serious set of accusations, and not likely to win Serena Williams any points among others on the WTA tour. However, neither she nor sister Venus are not new to controversy, with their father having before said racism played a role in some of their earlier matches.

You know what? S*** happens. Play on. You won! Stop complaining.

French Open is one of the most popular tennis tournaments of the Grand Slam. Roland Garros' clay courts make it a popular Paris destination for tennis fans and spectators. If you are touring in France, you still have seven days to get a little piece of French Open 2009 at Rolland Garros. The final is in seven days.
