The NJ election results are in for NJ primary election 2009, and former U.S. Attorney Chris Christie has won the Republican nomination for New Jersey governor and will face incumbent Democrat Jon Corzine in November.

Similarly, the NJ election results show that Jon Corzine won the state's Democratic gubernatorial nomination by easily defeating three little-known competitors Tuesday. He'll face a tougher challenge in November, although Christie is trying to become the first Republican elected in a New Jersey statewide race since 1997.

Corzine, 62, is a former U.S. senator and ex-CEO at Wall Street investment firm Goldman Sachs, which you might consider to weigh agaisnt him in November. The wealthy Illinois native spent $40 million on his first gubernatorial campaign in 2005.

On Tuesday night, after the NJ election results showed him winning the primary, he kicked off his campaign in West Orange with Vice President Joe Biden. Another rally is planned Thursday with rocker Jon Bon Jovi.

In his win in the GOP side of things, Chris Christie had to defeat former Bogota Mayor Steve Lonegan. Assemblyman Rick Merkt trailed both in polls.
