On Friday night the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Detroit Red Wings 2-1, winning the Stanley Cup in incredible fashion. To do so they first had to come back from a 2-0 deficit in the series, first with two straight wins to even it at 2-2, then winning the last two games after falling behind 3-2. Now when's that parade?
Good question. As of now the city is in planning, but there's no official date / time set for the Pittsburgh Penguins victory parade. This also adds another championship this year, as the Pittsburgh Steelers also won the Super Bowl earlier.
This was the Pittsburgh Penguins' first Stanley Cup victory in 17 years. And while you have to admit, many of us didn't need to see the Red Wings have yet another Cup parade, Detroit could have used some good news what with all the bad news in the auto industry.
Still, one has to admit that the Pittsburgh Penguins deserve the parade. After falling behind 2-0 in the finals, many wrote them off. It took a lot to come back, and to win the final game in Detroit was even more incredible.
Pittsburgh Penguins forward Sidney Crosby, on hoisting the Cup said,
"It was a little heavier than I thought but trust me, it's easier to get up there. It's amazing, this is what you dream of as a kid. To do it with this group who we went through so much with the last few years, it's a really rewarding feeling." Wait until the parade, guy.
