Younger sister Serena defeated Venus Williams in the Wimbledon's women's final on Saturday. Venus fought off several championship points in the second set, only to fall 7-6 (7-3), 6-2.

Serena's serve was untouched in the match, while Venus had trouble with first serves, mostly in the second set. Venus also had problems with the wind in the second set.

By winning, Serena Williams gained her 3rd Wimbledon title, and thwarted sister Venus' attempt to win her 6th. The two will have to make up soon, however; other matches on the Wimbledon finals schedule today include a doubles match for the two of them.

Venus Williams was attempting to win Wimbledon for the 3rd consecutive year, having won in both 2007 and 2008. Serena also beat Venus in the 2002 and ’03 Wimbledon finals, but lost to her Venus in last year’s championship match.

Serena improved to 6-2 against Venus in Grand Slam finals on Saturday, and has won 11 major titles in her career.
