It's apparently a bad week for stars of classic sitcoms. First Joyce Dewitt of "Three's Company" was arrested for DUI, and now Eddie Mekka, formerly Carmine Ragusa of "Laverne and Shirley" has suffered the same fate.
Eddie Mekka's character, Carmine Ragusa, was also called "The Big Ragoo." For much of the series he was the boyfriend of Cindy Williams' character, Shirley.
Eddie Mekka, 57, was arrested last Friday in Las Vegas, NV after allegedly getting into an automobile accident. Police received a call around 12:30 PM about an accident involving a “suspected drunk driver.”
Eddie Mekka was booked on misdemeanor suspicion of driving under the influence charges after failing field sobriety tests. No other details on the accident were available. No injuries or deaths were reported.
As mentioned above, Joyce DeWitt, or Janet Wood of "Three's Company" fame was arrested on July 4th in El Segundo, CA. Much like Eddie Mekka, she was booked on suspicion of DUI.
