Yesterday, the sports world was shocked by yet another death, as Arturo Gatti, former world boxing champ, was found dead while on a second honeymoon in Brazil. It now appears, much like Steve McNair, this isn't just any death, it may be a murder, and possibly at the hands of his wife, Amanda Rodrigues Gatti.
Amanda Rodrigues Gatti has been named a suspect in the case, but to be honest, anyone who watches any of those reality crime showws know that the spouse is always the first person suspected. Arturo Gatti was found dead without a gun shot or stab wound, but with blood on his neck and back of his head.
Arturo Gatti, 37, was apparently strangled with the strap of a purse, which was found with blood stains at the scene. There was also a mark on the bad of his head, perhaps due to some blunt force trauma. Amanda Rodrigues Gatti, 23, was taken into custody because of contradicting testimony when she was interrogated.
It would seem hard to believe that a young woman could strangle a former boxing champion. Arturo Gatti and wife Amanda Rodrigues Gatti were supposedly on their second honeymoon at the Porto de Galinhas resort, and were traveling with their 1-year-old son, as well.
Detectives are also investigating reports that the couple had been arguing before returning to their room on Friday evening and that Arturo Gatti had been drunk. It is also unclear how However, Amanda Rodrigues Gatti stayed in the apartment for approximately 10 hours, along with the couple's one-year-old son, without noticing that her husband was dead.
